Overview and Objectives
This webinar acknowledges that many chaplains may be interested in incorporating QI and research into their practice, but are challenged by the unpredictable demands of the clinical environment. The presenter will share tips on convenient ways to access timely spiritual care research, ways to leverage research literacy to enhance professional growth and satisfaction, build relationships with interdisciplinary team members, and improve care.
As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to
- Articulate the relationship between quality improvement and research
- Demonstrate skills and communicate strategies for tapping into current national research conversations
- Explain their own research interest and create goals for how to integrate research in their clinical environment

Presenter Information
Allison DeLaney is a native Floridian of Chinese Jamaican ancestry and is used to the surprise that is evoked from her Irish last name. She began her healthcare career as a physical therapist in 1999. Her interest in holistic health lead to an M.A. from Catholic Theological Union. She completed her Chaplaincy Residency training at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, Illinois 2004- 2005 and has been a Board Certified Chaplain through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains since 2006. She currently serves on the Research Advisory Committee, PCHAC Ad Hoc Appeals Committee. Allison is faculty chaplain for the Pediatric, Neonatal and Women’s Health units in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center and teaches research to chaplain students as an Instructor in the Department of Patient Counseling of the College of Health Professions.
